Electric Dreams: Sharing experiences of emotional engagement with conversational AI

The Project

This project is led by a team of researchers from University of Technology Sydney, Swinburne University, University of New South Wales and Latrobe University

We are seeking to learn about the kinds of relationships and emotional connections that people form with conversational AI like Claude, ChatGPT or Alexa. We will be conducting interviews with a diverse range of people in Australia and the United Kingdom who have used these technologies as a source of emotional comfort and support, a confidante they can ask for life and relationship advice, a friend who isn’t ever busy or unavailable.

The project engages all people who experience these forms of emotional connection, and are 18+ years old, through online and in-person interviews. All interviews are conducted by an experienced team of researchers and are designed to ensure confidentiality and discretion.

At the completion of the interview participants will receive a $50 gift voucher as a gesture of appreciation for their time.
